Inhofe: Peace, goodwill from Christmas parade
By U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe
The “war on Christmas” has come to an end in Tulsa this year. For nearly 90 years, residents in Tulsa commemorated the Christmas season with one large parade downtown, but in 2011, local leaders decided to jump on an unfortunate national trend of removing the word “Christmas” from the event.
After 40 years of riding a horse in the parade, I joined many others and said that if Christ wasn’t welcome, then I also would no longer be participating in the event. This is because Christmas isn’t just a holiday that can be sugar-coated for the sake of political appeasement.
Brian Kilmeade speaks in Tulsa
By David Arnett
Today bestselling author Brian Kilmeade of the Fox News Channel will speak and sign copies of his new book THOMAS JEFFERSON AND THE TRIPOLI PIRATES: The Forgotten War That Changed American History at Barnes & Noble.
In the vein of his acclaimed bestseller George Washington’s Secret Six, THOMAS JEFFERSON AND THE TRIPOLI PIRATES tells the story of the American President who refused to “pay for peace” and the tiny flotilla he tasked with establishing America’s sovereignty on the high seas—which would go on to inspire the creation of the future U.S. Marine Corps.

Bynum begins race for mayor
By David Arnett
It began officially on Facebook over the weekend in no surprise for most, but today Tulsa City Councilor G.T. Bynum announced he is “filing paperwork to start his campaign for Mayor of Tulsa.” In a release to local media, Bynum’s campaign listed prominent Tulsans “who have agreed to serve on his campaign steering committee.”
The group is comprised of people that hold vastly different perspectives on the approach to public policy issues at the local, state and national level. Bynum addresses this point saying, “Like Tulsa, these steering committee members represent a broad range of backgrounds and beliefs. And like Tulsa, they are ready to unite and build a better city for the people they love. I am appreciative so many have already committed to help with our campaign.”
