The University of Tulsa’s Golden Hurricane Athletics made a historic move in fall 2014, entering the high-profile American Athletic Conference and adopting a strategic plan to guide the department through 2018-19.
Under the leadership of TU President Steadman Upham and Derrick Gragg, TU’s vice president and director of athletics, the university has set an ambitious course to focus on eight key areas that will elevate the athletics program and build upon a rich tradition and past successes.

Services will be held Friday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. at New Haven United Methodist Church, 5603 South New Haven Avenue, in Tulsa for former State Senator Jerry L. Smith.
Retired from the Oklahoma Legislature for a decade, Smith passed last Friday at the age of 71. He had served Senate District 39 until 2004. Smith was first elected in 1972 as Oklahoma House member for District 76, Tulsa. Smith was the husband of Sally Howe Smith, also long serving as the the Tulsa County Court Clerk.
Jerry Smith was born Dec. 6, 1943, in Muskogee. He graduated in 1961 from Central High School and attended Oklahoma State University from 1962 to 1967 the earning his law degree in 1970 from the University of Tulsa School of Law.

Tulsa County Early Settlement Mediation is proud to announce that Tulsa volunteer Eduardo Mora was selected as the Oklahoma Early Settlement Volunteer of the Year by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
Mr. Mora was selected from dozens of nominees from counties throughout Oklahoma.
Mr. Mora has volunteered as a mediator in Tulsa for fourteen years, where he is one of only a few bi-lingual mediators. He has mediated hundreds of cases in many areas of mediation practice including basic mediation, family, guardianship and others.

President Obama, in his State of the Union address this week, said, “If we’re going to have arguments, let’s have arguments. But let’s make them debates worthy of this body and worthy of this country. We still may not agree on a woman’s right to choose, but surely, we can agree it’s a good thing that teen pregnancies and abortions are nearing all-time lows, and that every woman should have access to the health care that she needs.”
The Tulsa Police Department (TPD) Foundation held a kickoff fundraiser last week with shocking results. Established last year, the foundation is raising awareness of and support for the Tulsa Police Department to benefit both officers and citizens – enhancing community safety and security.
The Foundation plans several programs for the Police Department based on identified needs. The first project is funding the donation of 400 Conducted Electrical Weapons known as Tasers and the first donation of 100 Tasers is anticipated within the next 45 days.
