Sen. Inhofe: First Afghanistan hearings

Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today delivered remarks on the Senate floor about what he and the members of the committee have uncovered about President Biden’s disastrous drawdown in Afghanistan from the initial oversight hearings and briefings.

A video of Sen Inhofe’s remarks follow after text highlights:

One – We learned that top military leaders advised President Biden to keep at least 2,500 troops in Afghanistan—plus thousands more NATO troops—instead of withdrawing completely. They knew that if we didn’t keep a limited military presence there, the Afghan Security Forces would fall.

Now, this advice goes counter to what President Biden told the American people in August. He said his generals didn’t advise him to leave troops there. Now we know that’s not true, and I happen to think he really misled Americans here.

What Arizona Audit really shows

Critics of the forensic audit of Maricopa County, Arizona—including local election officials and many reporters—who are crowing that the audit confirms that President Joe Biden won the election in Arizona, either don’t understand the purpose of an audit or are trying to deliberately obscure the most worrying findings in the audit.

In fact, by concentrating on only one finding—that the hand recount essentially matched the machine count from last November—they are missing the forest for the trees. That is shown by misleading headlines such as that in The Washington Post: “Ariz. Ballot Report Affirms Biden Win and Lack of Fraud.”

No one doubts that the vote tabulation shows that Biden won the state. The fact, however, that the hand recount essentially matched the machine count from last November comes as no surprise to anyone with experience in election administration.

Crisis of his own making

The past nine months of Biden’s presidency have brought about a wave of crises unlike anything I have seen during my time in Washington.

While Congress is back to vote on the Democrats’ combined $5.5 trillion tax and spend spree, the crisis at our southern border is worsening by the day. It’s no secret— the American people have watched these conditions deteriorate before their eyes. This situation has evolved from border crisis to national security crisis, and now, a humanitarian crisis.

Statement by Donald J. Trump

All 17,000 illegal immigrants who entered our Country from Haiti and other places unknown have now been released into our Country with no vetting, checking, or even minimal understanding of who they are.

Some are very sick with extremely contagious diseases, even worse than the China Virus. They are not masked or mandated, but just let free to roam all over our Country and affect what was just a year ago, a great Nation.

Now we are a Nation humiliated like never before, both with the historically embarrassing “withdrawal” from Afghanistan, and our Border where millions of people are pouring in. Our Country is being destroyed!

Not about Freedom or Personal Choice

Today we have two contrasting quotations from world leaders. One said: “Mandatory vaccinations will never be allowed because [this] is a free country and its people are sovereign.” The other said: “This is not about freedom or personal choice.”

The first was by Vladimir Putin. Russia, a free country! The second was by Joe Biden. The U.S. is no longer a free country, and the people are not sovereign. Nor are the once-sovereign states. If state governors won’t cooperate with him, “I’ll use my power as president to get them out of the way.” It is not clear exactly how he would accomplish that. Invade the state and occupy its capitol and its courts? Arrest the governor and perhaps the legislature and throw them into prison without bail like some January 6 demonstrators? Already, many states are suing — perhaps we will learn whether the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution has any meaning.
