Terminated for uplifting Tiger King Hillbillies

The red and blue divide in America has never been bigger than it is today. Our polarized country clearly can’t see things the same way when it comes to even trivial things like what to laugh about or who is considered a celebrity. I thought there was a slight divide 20 years ago but today it’s miles wide.

Nowhere has it been as obvious as with a show like Tiger King. My interest in the show was very recent (I binged it in the 2021 Christmas holidays after Season 2 came out) and it propelled me to reach out to the stars of the show thinking it would be a good boost for the entertainment publications I was writing for. I interviewed John Reinke from Tiger King and I believe it was a strong interview which was ultimately thought provoking. For many publications, it was great and I got many compliments for stirring a fruitful discussion. EXCLUSIVE Marc Ang Interviews John Reinke From Tiger King.

But not for one publication. Well initially the editor loved it until her audience reacted like a typical woke cancel culture mob would. Ultimately this cost me a regular gig with them, a Hollywood based entertainment based online paper, which actually opened up a fascinating story for the record.

Chris Stapleton: Smooth as Tennessee whiskey

Chris Stapleton brought his All-American Roadshow to Tulsa Friday night, performing in front of a capacity crowd gathered inside the BOK Center. The Kentucky native isn’t known for spectacular showmanship, but connects with his audience solely through his music.

Stapleton is a bona fide country music superstar.

Moving to Nashville in 2001, Stapleton spent a year studying engineering at Vanderbilt University but dropped out to pursue a career in music. A Grammy Award songwriter (five to date), Stapleton has written over 150 songs for artists like George Strait, Kenny Chesney and Luke Bryan.

Alan Jackson Review

For the first time since the 2020 pandemic, Tulsa’s BOK Center opened their doors for a full-capacity concert as country superstar Alan Jackson brought his Coronavirus-interrupted tour to town. Tulsa audiences love their stars and cheered to show it was well worth the wait.

As the house lights dimmed, giving way to the spotlights, Jackson slowly and deliberately strode onto the stage, picked up his familiar guitar and performed “Gone Country,” setting the stage for a journey through the hits. With more #1 hits than his average set-list, it must be difficult to decide which songs to perform and which ones to leave out.

As Jackson performed while standing at the microphone, the Country Music Hall of Famer leaned against some sort of prop, possibly due to a back or hip issue. However, that didn’t lessen the enthusiasm of his audience. At one point, he walked back and forth across the stage, tossing rolled up t-shirts into the crowd.
