Starlight Concerts hire new director

The board of Friends of Starlight Concerts, Inc., has selected Catherine deCamp as its executive director.  Catherine brings more than 20 years’ of leadership experience and volunteerism to her role.

“After speaking with many qualified candidates, the board has unanimously selected Catherine deCamp as our new executive director.

“Catherine brings extensive experience and leadership, but most of all demonstrates the passion we need for guiding Starlight into an exciting new era”, said Michael McClendon, Chairman of the Board.  Continue reading →

Best Storyteller in Tulsa finals Friday

This Friday, April 28th at 8 pm, the BEST STORYTELLER IN TULSA will be crowned by “Ok, So” during their yearly Grand Slam.

Ok, So… is Tulsa’s version of the Moth heard on public radio and is a semi-competitive storytelling event. Over 100 people have competed and it has now come down to the finals – time to crown a winner.  Continue reading →

Tulsa filmmakers conquer mountains

Local, first-time filmmakers conquer the elements and rediscover individual purpose among towering mountains and daunting trails, while capturing it all on film in a new release.

“The Trip: Mountains & Manhood” premieres April 19 at the Bare Bones International Film Festival in Muskogee, Okla.

In July 2016, a group of men loaded their packs and headed into the wilderness of Colorado, following a 25-year tradition. They entered the woods with baggage, defeat, fear, doubt and addiction, but left with victory and fresh vision.   Continue reading →

Exhibit celebrates heroes of Holocaust

Tulsa’s Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art has partnered with the Tulsa Performing Arts Center to honor the late Michael Knigin show, “Remembrance 2000” during April.

Knigin’s exhibit features 25 pieces on canvas, all commemorating both dead and living heroes of the Holocaust.

Knigin’s art serves as an ongoing reminder of the past and a step toward building a better future.    Continue reading →

Green Day at BOK

Green Day brought their Revolution Radio tour to Tulsa’s BOK Center recently, delivering an energetic and entertaining set of their music past and present, along with a few surprises.

Following an audience sing-along to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the appearance of a large pink rabbit mascot, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong exploded onto the stage for the band’s opening song, “Know Your Enemy.”

Green Day was greeted by an enthusiastic audience of diverse ages and three of those audience members were actually welcomed onstage at different times throughout the evening.
