INDEPENDENCE, MO—Fresh of a trio of home losses, the Tulsa Oilers traveled to Independence Missouri on Tuesday night to take on the Missouri Mavericks for the first time since 2014 where the Mavericks proceeded to hand them a 7-3 loss in front of a boisterous home crowd of 5,800 in the Independence Events Center.

Globetrotters edge Generals in overtime

It took forty minutes and about 30 seconds of sudden death overtime for the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters to defeat the Washington Generals in the BOK Center on Sunday afternoon. Instead of employing a partial period or quarter to solve an 88-88 tie, they employed the “sudden death” method of the first bucket scored to end the game.

I know the reader is thinking that leading with such a paragraph borders on crazy because, after all, Globetrotters games are as scripted as professional wrestling or a sitcom.  After all, it would be a cold day in hell before the Globetrotters would lose to their opponents, but as it turns out… this visit by the Harlem Globetrotters had a plot.

TULSA, OK—More often than not in sports, you hear that games come down to seconds.  That’s exactly what happened in the Tulsa Oilers 5-4 loss to the Rapid City Rush on Thursday night.

A surprisingly large midweek crowd of 6,503 saw the home team lead most of the way through the game, and then see it all literally fall apart in the final five minutes of the third period.

The 6th season of the Tulsa Shock WNBA team is fast approaching and head coach Fred Williams is hard at work assembling his team.  Williams is looking to improve upon a 12-21 first year record and he made two crucial steps in building a winning team with the signings of fan favorite (and OU graduate) Courtney Paris and Plenette Pierson.

Revs top Saltillo Seco

TulsaRevolutionLogo2The Tulsa Revolution began a new era in their new building with a 9-8 win over Rancho Saltillo Seco on Friday night.

Victor Gouea and Lucas Almeida each scored three goals to lead Tulsa, while Levi Coleman notched two goals and two assists.  The home team had a four goal advantage at the game’s half and nearly allowed Saltillo back into the match in the fourth quarter.
