A new analysis from Dunhill Travel ranks Oklahoma the fifth best state for an affordable road trip in 2025, factoring in key metrics such as gas prices, hotel rates, day-to-day expenses, national park access, cultural attractions, and road quality.

    • The average nightly rate for a hotel in Oklahoma is $116, the 2nd lowest in the country,
    • Gas averages $2.74 per gallon—the 6th lowest in the country.
    • Everyday expenses cost travelers 11.7% less than average.

Responsible Budgeting Oklahoma

This legislative session, we agreed on a budget that reflects both fiscal responsibility and strong support for Oklahoma families. It cuts taxes to return more money to hardworking Oklahomans, while also investing in the things that matter most to everyday families: education, safety and long-term stability.

At the heart of this budget is a simple promise that we will protect taxpayers while caring for the most vulnerable among us.

In this budget, we’ve increased public education funding by adding $25 million to the common education funding formula. We’re also covering an $88.5 million increase in flexible benefit costs for school personnel and setting aside $5 million to help provide paid maternity leave for teachers. These are meaningful investments in the people we trust to educate and care for our children every day.

AG Drummond Slams Gov Stitt’s Vetoes

Oklahoma Attorney General and announced gubernatorial candidate Gentner Drummond in a media release today blasted recent vetoes by Gov. Stitt, including measures he asserted would strengthen public safety, improve government transparency and accountability, and  force health insurance companies to cover mammograms. All passed the Legislature with overwhelming bipartisan support — reflecting the will of everyday Oklahomans Drummond asserted in remarkably robust language.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, not shy in his own defense, maintains an ongoing list of vetoes available online that were also undated today and are included here at the end of Drummond’s rant.

OK Legislature Access & Information Control

OKLAHOMA CITY – As the 60th Oklahoma Legislature begins to wind down its session ending May 30, 2025, citizens across the state are drawn to the Oklahoma State Capitol, eager to witness the crucible of democracy: committee meetings where bills on education, criminal justice, and economic policy are forged. For Oklahomans, access to these proceedings, whether in person or online, is not just a convenience but a fundamental right, a cornerstone of individual liberty. Yet, in Oklahoma, this right is constrained by a legislative system that wields near-unchecked control over public access, rooted in a constitutional exemption that prioritizes institutional prerogative over the people’s freedom to engage with their government.
