Bob Jack: GOP’s arrogant ex-chair

April 21 at the Tulsa County Republican Women’s Club Candidate Forum, I passed the various tables talking to candidates when Tulsa County Commissioner District 3 Candidate Bob Jack caught my eye.

I greeted, “Hello Bobby, are you still the authoritarian I remember?”

Jack said, “Yes, yes I am.”

“Well, that’s not going to work,” I replied.

“I’m going to win,” Jack declared. I disagreed with him directly at the time and here is why.

Candidate filing begins Wednesday

Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Gwen Freeman reminds the public that statewide election activity officially begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday April 13 when the filing period opens. Candidates for federal and state offices file with the Secretary of the State Election Board in OKC and candidates for county offices file with the county of the office. The following offices are expected to be filled this year.

Tulsa rents up 1.2% this month

Apartment List released today it’s rent report data showing in Tulsa, the 2022 rental season kicked off with a 1.2% increase in January, compared to a 0.2% increase nationally. This month-over-month rent increase ranks #5 among the nation’s 100 largest cities.

Annual rent growth in Tulsa now stands at 10.6%.

Funding for Tulsa Levees Project

WASHINGTON U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) announced Wednesday that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has provided full funding for the Tulsa-West Tulsa Levees Project. The Army Corps released the work plans to fund multiple projects in Oklahoma. Link here.

“After years and years of work, I am incredibly proud to announce that the Tulsa-West Tulsa Levees Project is fully funded,” Inhofe said. “With this funding from the Army Corps, we can finish modernizing and upgrading the levees from the unacceptable version we began with to levees that will protect our children and our children’s children. This has been a priority of mine for as long as I can remember and I am grateful for the tireless work of Army Corps Chief of Engineers Lt. General Spellmon, his predecessor Lt. General Semonite, as well as Brig. Gen. Beck, Col. Preston and their staff.

Clinton Johnson appointed U.S. Attorney Northern District of Oklahoma

TULSA, Okla. – Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Clinton J. Johnson as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma effective December 26, 2021. Chief U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III administered the oath of office.

“I am privileged to serve the people of northeastern Oklahoma and to lead an exceptional team of attorneys and support staff dedicated to ensuring the public’s safety,” said U.S Attorney Clint Johnson. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office remains committed to working closely with our local, state, federal and tribal partners in the pursuit of justice in the Northern District of Oklahoma.”
