Bynum begins race for mayor

GTBynumIt began officially on Facebook over the weekend in no surprise for most, but today Tulsa City Councilor G.T. Bynum announced he is “filing paperwork to start his campaign for Mayor of Tulsa.” In a release to local media, Bynum’s campaign listed prominent Tulsans “who have agreed to serve on his campaign steering committee.”

The group is comprised of people that hold vastly different perspectives on the approach to public policy issues at the local, state and national level.  Bynum addresses this point saying, “Like Tulsa, these steering committee members represent a broad range of backgrounds and beliefs.  And like Tulsa, they are ready to unite and build a better city for the people they love.  I am appreciative so many have already committed to help with our campaign.”

NSU-BA hosts blood drive

HeroShirtNortheastern State University and Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) are partnering for a blood drive Wednesday, November 18, to help save the lives in area hospitals. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Broken Arrow campus.

Each donor will receive a ‘HERO’ T-shirt in recognition of the selfless act of giving. One blood donation can save as many as three lives. Yet, it typically takes only an hour to give blood, this brief act of community service can make a major, life-saving difference.

Justin Bieber world tour headed to BOK Center

With back-to-back worldwide smash hit singles and anticipation for his new studio album PURPOSE this Friday hitting an all-time high, global superstar Justin Bieber has announced his 50+ city PURPOSE WORLD TOUR beginning March 9, 2016 in Seattle, WA. Bieber will make a stop in Tulsa at BOK Center on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

The 58-date tour, promoted by AEG Live, will travel through arenas across North America; fans will be able to see Bieber’s dynamic live show in U.S. cities such as Denver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston and Miami as well as all throughout Eastern and Western Canada. Bieber will play two-night runs at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center, Chicago’s Allstate Arena and Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. The tour will conclude on July 18, 2016 at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden.

PoliticalMudOKAnalysis: Libertarian fringe writer Matthew Vermillion in his most recent web offering accuses Oklahoma State Senate District 34 Candidate John Feary of lying. Of course no one should notice that Vermillion’s site is advertising one of Feary’s opponents. Oh say you CAN see the National Rife Association (NRA) ranking in question online.

In a mailer to constituents in the district and in radio advertising Feary notes an “A” level NRA ranking.

GOP Presidential Debate: Tulsa Watch Party

ElectionDebateThe Republican Party of Tulsa County is hosting a politically fun function featuring the televised presidential debate tonight. This is the second time for the County Party to host a televised debate function which this night will also feature an exit Straw Poll. A local television station will gather focus group feedback* after the event.

All Republicans are invited for this 2016 meet-up event and Republican County Chairman Mike Ford asks, “Why sit around the house and watch it by yourself? Let’s have some fun!”
