Tulsa Red Cross issues urgent call

BloodDrive1 The American Red Cross in Tulsa is facing a looming shortage of the blood types most needed by patients and is calling on eligible donors with O negative, B negative and A negative blood to give now to prevent an emergency situation. Blood donation appointments can be quickly and easily scheduled by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

Overall blood donations in the Red Cross Southwest Blood Services Region have been approximately nearly 500 fewer per month in June and July this year than the previous 10 months of the year. When demand for the most needed types begins to outpace donations, the Red Cross alerts donors to help restock the shelves.

TULSA: Five First-Degree Murder charges were filed today against Robert Davis Bever, 18, and Michael John Bever, 16, in the stabbing deaths of their parents and three siblings at their Broken Arrow home on July 22. Robert and Michael Bever were also charged with Assault and Battery With Intent to Kill for multiple stabbings of a 13-year-old sister who survived the attack.

Jail conflict resolved – for now

DavidLMossCenterAnalysis:  The Tulsa World is reporting that the Tulsa County Justice Authority approved an interlocal agreement Monday that clears some “issues” members have “grappled over for months.”

Grappled may be the mildest word available in English for the long bitter dispute frequently played out in competing press conferences.

The agreement next goes to the County Board of Commissioners, which is expected to sign off at a special meeting sometime this week.

High-rise hotel announced near BOK Center

With enthusiastic elected, business and civic leaders attending; Pete Patel of Promise Hotels announced the company’s newest Tulsa project – a nine story 125 room mid-scale Hampton Hotel at the corner of Third and Cheyenne across the street from the BOK Center. It is the first high-rise hotel to be built in downtown Tulsa in 30 years.

Patel credits Tulsa County’s Vision 2025 infrastructure initiative for Downtown Tulsa’s revitalization saying he is delighted to build “the closest hotel to the BOK Center, which is the establishment that made this development and much of the downtown revitalization possible.”
