Sgt. Vic Regalado, a former lead homicide detective for the Tulsa Police Department, has announced his candidacy for Tulsa County Sheriff.

“I am running to rebuild trust with the citizens of Tulsa County and support for law enforcement.  We must do the right thing regardless of the risk to protect each citizen and pursue criminals to keep all neighborhoods safe,” said Regalado.

“Citizens deserve professional, responsive and effective law enforcement throughout Tulsa County,” he said.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Monday delivered a speech on the Senate floor highlighting the many examples of Republican leadership surrendering to President Obama’s demands, including funding Planned Parenthood and the catastrophic Iran nuclear deal. Sen. Cruz’s speech followed an attempt to permit a vote on his amendment to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and the Iranian nuclear deal. His colleagues refused to allow him the courtesy of a roll-call vote on his motion, which would have allowed for consideration of his amendment.

The video is embedded here with the text of Sen. Cruz’s remarks and while he makes many considerable points with wisdom, Tulsa Today’s favorite jewel is at the end which highlights leadership. He said, “I ask unanimous consent that my time be extended…The Democrats are objecting to my speaking further, and both the Democrats and Republican leadership are objecting to the American people speaking further. I yield the floor.

Largest car show in the metro – FREE

CarShow2Don’t miss the South Tulsa Baptist Church Car Show Sunday, September 20 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. It is a free family event and the largest annual car show in the Tulsa area. Just to be clear – we said it is FREE.

Sponsored by the South Tulsa Baptist Church; organizers expect over 600 show cars and 3,000 in attendance. Congressman Jim Bridenstine will officially open the show at 4:00 p.m. followed by a flag salute and the National Anthem. Miss Oklahoma, Georgia Frazier will be signing autographs in the church Commons area.

Federal Grand Jury criminal indictments

TulsaJusticeTULSA:  The results of the September 2015 Federal Grand Jury were announced Friday by Danny C. Williams Sr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

The following individuals have been charged with violations of United States law in indictments returned by the Grand Jury. The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged federal crimes which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

Rogers County voter deadline for school election

VoteMachineFriday, September 19th, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the October 13th Special Owasso School Election, Rogers County Election Board Secretary Julie Dermody said today.

Dermody said that persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters.
