Never personally met Sarah Palin, but I have attended several of her speeches and on the Saturday afternoon in 2011 when Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) was shot by Jared Loughner in a public assassination / mass killing in Tucson, I hosted “The David Arnett Show” on Tulsa’s KRMG with live coverage of that horrific event.
A local caller then asserted that Palin’s political action committee’s map of targeted electoral districts put Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs and blamed Palin for the shooting. Loughner was later proven mentally deranged and the Democratic Operative Bob Beckel later asserted he had used the same graphic in his campaign operations “long before Sarah Palin did.” Continue reading
James T. Hodgkinson, the shooter at the Republican Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., posted on Facebook on March 22, “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co,” with a link to a Change.org petition to impeach Trump on charges of treason for allegedly colluding with Russian intelligence services to steal the election. And he wanted to kill as many Republicans as possible in his attempt to mow down GOP Senators and Representatives, where House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) was shot. Continue reading
Coach Bob Stoops
A national sports writer once opined that Bob Stoops is the kind of coach that “arrives on campus and makes you happy for the rest of your life.” This fan could not agree more. Bob Stoops is revered in Oklahoma for many things, but most of all for being the kind of coach any parent would be wise to trust with their children. That is not a small thing.
Stoops taught excellence in physical skills and in growing up – straight up – solid in character – loyal, honorable and trustworthy in foundational ways to mature young men during both success and disappointment. Continue reading
