Foundation swings for education

GolfEducation1The 2nd annual “Swing for Education” benefit golf tournament will be held Friday, Sept. 4 at the Fountainhead Creek Golf Course in Checotah.

The tournament was created by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Higher Education Scholarship Foundation Program (HESFP) to raise money for scholarships to help Muscogee (Creek) students who attend post-secondary institutions.

With enthusiastic elected, business and civic leaders attending; Pete Patel of Promise Hotels announced the company’s newest Tulsa project – a nine story 125 room mid-scale Hampton Hotel at the corner of Third and Cheyenne across the street from the BOK Center. It is the first high-rise hotel to be built in downtown Tulsa in 30 years.

Patel credits Tulsa County’s Vision 2025 infrastructure initiative for Downtown Tulsa’s revitalization saying he is delighted to build “the closest hotel to the BOK Center, which is the establishment that made this development and much of the downtown revitalization possible.”

OK AG Scott Pruitt sues EPA over WOTUS overreach

OkFarmPond2Attorney General Scott Pruitt filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Environmental Protection Agency alleging that the redefinition of the “Waters of the United States” is executive overreach, flatly contrary to the will of Congress.

The lawsuit alleges that the EPA’s broad redefinition of long-standing regulatory jurisdiction places virtually all land and water under an untenable regulatory burden. The EPA’s regulatory jurisdiction has historically been limited to the “navigable waters” – a term that has always been understood to include only large bodies of water capable of serving as pathways for interstate commerce.

Black bears are being seen in parts of Oklahoma where no record of sightings exist in modern times.

Black bears have become a common sight in parts of Oklahoma in recent years, a good indicator that the species is expanding its habitat range westward.

In recent years, black bears have been seen in places where no record of sightings exist in modern times. Sightings have been reported near Broken Arrow, Tahlequah, Muskogee, Wewoka and Ada.
