Sen. Inhofe highlights missle success

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member  of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today highlighted the successful test flight of the Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI) by the Missile Defense Agency over the weekend.  The GBI is the missile deployed to protect the United States homeland against limited ballistic missile threats from countries such as North Korea and Iran.

“This test is particularly timely in light of recent threats from North Korean leaders of upcoming long-range rocket and nuclear weapons tests aimed at the United States,” said Inhofe.

Protection at the pump

After a visit to gas station to fill up his truck with gas, my 17-year-old son had a very simple question for me.  “Mom, since your name is on the gas pumps, why can’t you make the prices go down?”

Logical question it seems – especially when Oklahomans look at the gas pump and see the white inspection sticker listing the Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners in their official capacity.  But as I told my son, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission does not control the price of gasoline at the pump.

Tulsa’s Josh Brakhage ‘Jeopardy’ hot streak continues

Tulsa television news producer Josh Brakhage claimed $20,006 in his fourth consecutive JEOPARDY! victory today, increasing his total winnings to $69,611.

The 29-year-old South Coffeyville, Okla., native will play again on tomorrow’s episode of America’s Favorite Quiz Show® in an attempt to add
to his prize money and become a five-game champion.

Rep. Bridenstine holds Town Halls

Congressman Jim Bridenstine (OK-1) will hold a series of town hall meetings this week in Tulsa County, Wagoner County and Washington County.

The focus of the meetings will be recent events in Washington D.C..

Appeals Court denies EPA rule on “cross state” pollution

A U.S. Appeals Court has denied the request of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to rehear a case on a pollution rule that was challenged by Attorney General Scott Pruitt and other attorneys general in a multi-state lawsuit.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied the request by the EPA, ruling the EPA had exceeded its authority under the Clean Air Act in creation of the Cross State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR). The court specifically ruled the EPA must allow states the opportunity to meet regulations as provided under federal law.
