J.J. Dossett, wins Ok. Senate Dist. 34

In contest for a seat held by Republicans for 16 years, Democrat J.J. Dossett won in a special election Tuesday night. Dossett, a current coach and son of a longtime Owasso High School principal, rallied support for public education to his campaign.

As a Monday analysis on Tulsa Today noted, Republican David McLain apparently took the overwhelming Republican registration in the North Tulsa County district for granted by not mailing enough to match Dossett’s mail outreach in the general election. Further, Dossett’s cable TV buy and web site video showed a stronger more professional approach to voters in the district.

Petty’s Fine Foods to close in February

PettyUtica1Petty’s Fine Foods, the iconic specialty food store in Tulsa’s Utica Square, will close in February 2016. The midtown store, known for its wide selection of groceries, meats, produce, specialty foods and Catering by Maureen, has been a staple of Tulsa shoppers for more than 70 years.

According to owner Scott Petty, the decision was made after months of careful consideration and recent meetings with Helmerich & Payne, owners of Utica Square.

OK Senate Dist. 34 special election Tuesday

Vote2016aAnalysis: Republican David McLain and Democrat J.J. Dossett will compete for a vacancy created by the resignation of Republican Rick Brinkley Tuesday in Oklahoma Senate District 34 which includes most of north Tulsa County, Skiatook, Owasso, Collinsville and a small portion of Rogers County. It is the first of many elections this year.

Oilers spread warmth with blanket drive

OilersLogoTULSA, OK- This Friday, December 18, the Oilers will ask fans who are attending the contest against Wichita to bring new or gently used blankets for donation.

For the third straight year, the Tulsa Oilers will partner with UniFirst-Tulsa to help spread warmth this chilly season. Blankets will be collected upon entrance to the game on Friday.
