The elderly population, who often rely on a fixed income, are particularly vulnerable to financial, emotional, and physical abuse. To shed light on this important issue, the personal finance company WalletHub today released its annual report on the States with the Best Elder-Abuse Protections.
WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia based on 16 key indicators of elder-abuse protection. The data set ranges from each state’s share of all elder abuse complaints to their laws concerning financial elder abuse.

By David Arnett
A grand jury indictment was unsealed, charging Tashella Sheri Amore Dickerson, 52, of Oklahoma City, with wire fraud and money laundering, announced U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester for the Western District of Oklahoma. Dickerson made her initial appearance in court last Thursday December 11th and the Oklahoma disgrace has been all over the national news ever since.

In an interview with KOCO news, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt urged Oklahomans to adopt California’s election system and place all candidates from all parties on a single ballot and allow all voters to participate in a summer election. Then the “top two” vote recipients would advance to the November general election, even if both candidates are from the same political party.
Holt endorsed State Question 836, which would impose California’s system on Oklahoma, saying the California system promotes officeholders who “seek pragmatic, practical outcomes that have a broad spectrum of support. Oklahoma’s 2025 holiday antlerless deer gun season will open Dec. 18 and run through Dec. 31 across most of the state. Hunters are urged to get outdoors during the last two weeks of the year and harvest one or two antlerless white-tailed deer — if not for themselves then for the thousands of hungry people in need through the Hunters Against Hunger (HAH) program.
Deer taken during the holiday antlerless season are considered bonus deer, which are in addition to a hunter’s aggregate deer limit from the other regular deer seasons. Hunters holding the appropriate base hunting license and a deer gun season license (unless exempt) may participate in the holiday antlerless season, even if they have already harvested their combined season limit of deer.

Oklahoma Political Parties Unite
By David Arnett
In a statement released late Wednesday, Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Charity Linch asserted her unwavering support for the Democrat Party in their decision to have only Democrats choose their candidate in Oklahoma primary elections.
“Republican voters in Oklahoma are grateful that our party protects the primary for Republican voters. With the Democrat Party’s recent decision, they created autonomy in their primary process, allowing only Democrats to pick the Democrat nominee, and the Republican Party will continue to defend [the same position] that only Republicans pick the Republican nominee,” Linch said.
