Federal Grand Jury announces indictments

TulsaJusticeTULSA, OKLAHOMA— The results of the November 2014 Federal Grand Jury were announced Thursday by Danny C. Williams Sr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

The following individuals have been charged with violations of United States law in indictments returned by the Grand Jury. The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged federal crimes which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

Michael Brown’s mother named robbery attacker

FergusonTShirtJusticeCrime reporting site, The Smoking Gun (TSG), posted today a police report detailing a fight last month between members of Michael Brown’s family over the sale of commemorative t-shirts and identifies the late teenager’s mother as one of the “attackers” who beat and robbed vendors selling merchandise from a tent in a Ferguson, Missouri parking lot.

A copy of the Ferguson Police Department report was provided yesterday by city attorney Stephanie Karr.

When TSG requested the document two weeks ago, Karr noted that Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, was “described in the report” and had “specifically requested that the report be withheld from the media.”

Golden Hurricane playing for pride

TUfootballTeam14With only one win in their inaugural year in the American Athletic Conference, the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team is not making much of a first impression.  Head Coach Bill Blankenship and his young team are looking to make a few strides to salvage their pride as they look to salvage some pride against the SMU Mustangs this Saturday in H.A. Chapman Stadium.

“It’s certainly not nearly as much fun.” Blankenship said at his weekly press conference, “We have a whole lot more fun when we’re rocking and rolling and winning those games. It’s a lot more of a challenge, but with more challenges comes great opportunity and we’re going to continue to stay in the fight. Somebody sent me a text the other day that said `The dead don’t bleed’, and we’re still bleeding.”

Politico is reporting that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has canceled its advertising reservations for Sen. Mary Landrieu ahead of the December runoff in Louisiana.

The committee canceled all broadcast buys planned through Dec. 6 in the state’s five major media markets, three sources tracking the air war told POLITICO. That’s about $1.6 million in air time. The DSCC is in the process of canceling an additional $275,000 in cable placements, according to buyer sources.

Mavericks edge Tulsa

TULSA, OK— The last minute of the game between the Tulsa Oilers and the Missouri Mavericks was a blur of flying pucks, swinging sticks and frantic skating, but even with goalie Kevin Carr pulled to give the home team an extra man, the efforts fell short as the Mavericks topped the Oilers 5-4 in front of 3,202 in the BOK Center on Tuesday night.

The loss was the Oilers second loss in regulation this season and their first regulation loss on home ice.
