The Oklahoma Multi-County Grand Jury has indicted former pastor Joseph Lyle Campbell, 68, on one count of first-degree rape and one count of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16. The indictment, announced by Attorney General Gentner Drummond, alleges the crimes occurred in 1984 while Campbell was the youth pastor at the Eastland Assembly of God Church in Tulsa.

US Senator James Lankford (R-OK), Chairman of the Border Management, Federal Workforce, and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC), yesterday highlighted findings from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) during a hearing examining high-risk and fragmented federal programs that undermine fiscal responsibility. The hearing focused in part on GAO’s investigative work uncovering identity verification failures in the so-called Affordable Care Act’s federal health insurance marketplace.

The elderly population, who often rely on a fixed income, are particularly vulnerable to financial, emotional, and physical abuse. To shed light on this important issue, the personal finance company WalletHub today released its annual report on the States with the Best Elder-Abuse Protections.
WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia based on 16 key indicators of elder-abuse protection. The data set ranges from each state’s share of all elder abuse complaints to their laws concerning financial elder abuse.
OKC Black Lives Embarrassment

A grand jury indictment was unsealed, charging Tashella Sheri Amore Dickerson, 52, of Oklahoma City, with wire fraud and money laundering, announced U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester for the Western District of Oklahoma. Dickerson made her initial appearance in court last Thursday December 11th and the Oklahoma disgrace has been all over the national news ever since.
According to the indictment, beginning in at least 2016, Dickerson served as the Executive Director of Black Lives Matter OKC (BLMOKC). As Executive Director, Dickerson had access to BLMOKC’s bank, PayPal, and Cash App accounts.

In an interview with KOCO news, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt urged Oklahomans to adopt California’s election system and place all candidates from all parties on a single ballot and allow all voters to participate in a summer election. Then the “top two” vote recipients would advance to the November general election, even if both candidates are from the same political party.
Holt endorsed State Question 836, which would impose California’s system on Oklahoma, saying the California system promotes officeholders who “seek pragmatic, practical outcomes that have a broad spectrum of support. We just need people in office who are talking about the economy and education and health care and issues that are important,” Holt said.
Perhaps Holt has not noticed how things actually play out in California and Oklahoma.
