Hillary will run says donor

A wealthy Democratic donor is fanning the flames of speculation that Hillary Clinton is running for president.

According to the Daily Mail web site MailOnline.com, Sacramento developer Angelo Tsakopoulos was reported to have said Bill Clinton has confirmed that the former Secretary of State will make a bid for the White House again.  But, just to be clear, the report was later denied.

The millionaire is said to have told the Greek Reporter that Clinton’s husband revealed his wife’s political ambition, as the power couple gear up for a 2016 race.

More education funding: OK 2013

Three Oklahoma senate committee chairmen have written a letter to President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman and Appropriations Chairman Clark Jolley seeking to increase common education funding by $75 to $100 million for fiscal year 2014.

Senators Jim Halligan, Chairman of the Education Subcommittee, John Ford, Chairman of Education, and Mike Mazzei, Finance Chairman, said after meeting with local school superintendents and State Superintendent Janet Barresi, they are convinced increased education funding must be the top priority when writing the 2014 budget.

Commissioner Perry announces resignation

County Commissioner Fred Perry announced today that effective July 8, 2013 he will resign his position and retire.  He plans to send a letter accordingly to Governor Fallin within a few days so that an election can be scheduled for a new District 3 commissioner in a timely manner.

Perry was elected in 2010 for a second term which runs until December 31, 2014.  However, he plans to remain in office until July 8th.  “I will be on the job until July 8th,” he said.  He will be leaving his four year post eighteen months ahead of time.

Perry said that he was retiring “for health reasons” noting that he had a heart procedure last November.

“There comes a time when one knows it’s time to retire.  By giving five months notice, this will provide for an orderly selection of my replacement according to the statutes,” Perry said.

Oilers spanked twice over weekend

Over the weekend the Tulsa Oilers saw the win streak they were riding before hitting the road come to a rather rude ending over the weekend as they won one of three games.

After soundly defeating the Rapid City Rush 5-2 last Tuesday night the Oilers traveled to Wichita to take on the Thunder on their home ice.  After a stalemate game which saw a scoreless first period, with Tulsa and Wichita trading goals in the second and third frames, the Oilers rode through the five minute extra session to go into their third shootout in the last two weeks and their second straight with the Thunder.

Pope Benedict XVI resigns

Pope Benedict XVI is to resign at the end of this month after nearly eight years as the head of the Catholic Church, saying he is too old to continue at the age of 85.

The unexpected development – the first papal resignation in nearly 600 years – surprised governments, Vatican-watchers and even his closest aides according to the BBC.

The Vatican says it expects a new Pope to be elected before Easter.
