Taylor’s spy missed the good parts

Kathy Taylor's Intern

Kathy Taylor’s Intern

Analysis: By his acknowledgement, an unpaid intern working for current candidate and former-mayor Kathy Taylor attended a campaign rally of Mayor Bartlett’s last evening.  The intern, pictured with this story, recorded the presentation on his cell phone and took notes on a clipboard.  Surveillance occurs in campaigns, but this young lad was a bit more than obvious.  He was introduced and welcomed, but he missed the really good stuff.

Mayor Bartlett continues a remarkably positive campaign and nothing he and other elected or party officials said was negative about Kathy Taylor.

After the formal presentations, the intern left the rally which was a shame as he missed the social hour.  It is then only right for this writer to share the unofficial stuff that stood out as very funny – good stuff the intern missed.

The best summary of Taylor’s term in office this writer heard: “Taylor let the grass grow, turned off the lights and left the office early – so why should we elect her again?”

Shipbuilders representing Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE:HII) Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division participated in a series of events over the weekend commemorating what would have been President Gerald R. Ford’s 100th birthday.

NNS is building CVN 78, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier for the U.S. Navy named in honor of the 40th President. The centennial events were held at the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Ford’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich.

“We are proud to be building CVN 78—named for a man who embodied integrity, honor and courage,” NNS President Matt Mulherin said during a wreath-laying ceremony on Sunday. “We are building his ship with the same pride, quality and dedication that we have built ships with for more than a century. We take great pride in this responsibility and feel a tremendous sense of ownership in the role we play to build upon President Ford’s legacy.”

Record bass stocking effort

FishingOK2Over a three-week period this spring, the Fisheries Division of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation released a record-setting 2.22 million Florida-strain largemouth bass (FLMB) into 44 Oklahoma lakes.

This year’s exceptional FLMB production at three of the state’s fish hatcheries doubled what would be expected in an average year, said Cliff Sager, a senior biologist with the Wildlife Department.

“We had a good situation this year by having so many fish,” Sager said, which resulted in many more lakes being stocked than would have been stocked in an average year. “Being able to stock 44 lakes, to give so many lakes a shot in the arm with the Florida genetics, that just increased the potential for trophy bass production for years to come.”

The Rev. Sharpton’s already flagging posse

AlSharptonHateUpdated Analysis:  Not a bit like the vigilante posses in the movies, the Rev. Al Sharpton’s posse will be out in 100 cities this weekend.  But although the mainstream media’s not admitting it, Al’s is a posse that is already flagging before it starts.

Missing from the the Rev. Sharpton’s planned “Justice for Trayvon” day,  is the real spontaneity and consensus of the posses of yore.

Rev. Sharpton’s planned weekend protests in 100 cities, relies on the mainstream media and politicians of the day fueling the fire of racial unrest.  All politicians and most mainstream media are in deadsville zone on weekends.

The feeding frenzy by both media and politicians peaked yesterday when battling-it-out- with-MSNBC-for-ratings, backbiting CNN’s prime racism charger Piers Morgan interviewed Trayvon Martin confidante Rachel Jeantel.
