SAND SPRINGS – Oklahoma State Senator Dan Newberry hosted key officials from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in Senate District 37 on Friday to discuss transportation and infrastructure conditions in Senate District 37, which includes portions of Jenks, Sand Springs and Glenpool.

Senator Newberry welcomed ODOT Director Mike Patterson and members of his staff.  They viewed conditions along Highway 51 near Sand Springs, where residents have expressed concerns about sections of the highway eroding.

Oilers signing season begins with Brown

Oilers16DennisBrownThe Tulsa Oilers announced Monday that defenseman Dennis Brown signed with the team for the 2016-17 ECHL season. Brown played in 67 games for the Oilers last season with five goals and 30 assists for 35 points in his rookie season.

Brown has played his entire professional career under current Oilers Head Coach Jason Christie, having spent his first full ECHL season with the Ontario Reign in 2014-15.

Critical shortage: Red Cross calls all donors

BloodDriveTulsaTULSA, Okla.  While thousands of people from across the country responded to the emergency request for blood and platelet donations issued by the American Red Cross in early July, a critical blood shortage remains. The Red Cross urges eligible donors to give now to help ensure blood is available throughout the rest of the summer to meet patient needs.

At times, blood and platelets are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in, which impacts the ability to rebuild the blood supply. Right now, the Red Cross has less than a five-day blood supply on hand. The Red Cross strives to have a five-day supply at all times to meet the needs of patients every day and be prepared for emergencies that may require significant volumes of donated blood products.
